17,5 point, JancisRobinson.com: "Sweet spices, black cherry, fine tannins, bright acid and a charming farmy sort of character in the background. Perfectly clean, just showing a sort of earthy terroir that is entirely fitting."

91-93 point - Inside Burgundy, Jasper Morris MW: "From three plots in the lower part, an early ripening spot so this is the second wine to be picked, after Clos St. Denis. Soft and rounded with a good weight of fruit behind, the oak is in balance. Good length too. Benoît says he has never had a bad Combotte from any producer. Ripe cherries here."

Combottes er en 1. Cru af ekstraordinær kvalitet. Alene beliggenheden mellem Grand Cru Clos de la Roche og Grand Cru Latricières Chambertin antyder det. Når marken ikke har Grand Cru status, er det ifølge Benoit Stehly fordi, 80% af marken er ejet af Morey St. Denis avlere. Gevrey-Chambertin avlerne ønskede derfor ikke, at marken skulle være Grand Cru! Kvaliteten er superb, og vinen har virkelig finesse, elegance, aromatisk styrke og længde.
